On their fourth album, 2023’s Shook, Algiers in many ways exploded the idea of their band as a self-contained project, not only collaborating with a wide range of artists throughout but providing stems for a complementary release by King Vision Ultra, Shook World. It’s a bold and unsurprisingly remarkable move from the quartet; singer Franklin James Fisher’s ever-fierce singing infuses the whole with righteous power, while the complex, musically varied mix of hip-hop, rock, industrial and much more seethes with the feeling of a 21st century live revue.
