New Clear Child

A.R. Kane’s final album was ultimately a classic example of trying to recapture magic that had started to vanish; the core members Alex Ayuli and Rudi Tambala had not only started to work separately but lived on completely different continents before acceding to David Bryne’s request to record a new album for Luaka Bop. By no means a disaster, New Clear Child has the elements – the vocals remain sweetly unusual, compelling and beautiful – but only a few songs that fully connect like “Deep Blue Breath” and the closing beauty of “Sea Like A Child.”
