Futures

While it sadly proved to be the last Butterfly Child album released before the band’s founder and core member Joe Cassidy suffered his untimely passing in 2021, Futures was a retrospectively wonderful note to end that particular project on. Showcasing Cassidy’s seemingly effortless ability to both create melodies in classic forms without simply aping them and to sing them with a warm, thoughtful grace that’s too rare in music, it’s one crystalline beauty of a song after another, Cassidy’s eyes to the stars.
