Do It Fluid

Released

UK DJs Baz Fe Jazz and Gilles Peterson’s BGP label put out a great rare groove collection in ’87, featuring six tracks from the ’75-77 period of the Prestige, Milestone and Fantasy jazz label stable. In contrast to the raw funk tracks of many other rare groove collections of the time, Do It Fluid featured a slightly more refined and sophisticated take on the funk template. These were lengthy dancefloor jazz/jazz funk records that had plenty of space and time for quality soloing from artists of the calibre of Patrice Rushen and Johnny Hammond, records with high production standards, rich arrangements and top-level musicianship. Six absolutely unmissable tracks, some of which at the time of release would’ve cost hundreds of pounds, collected together along with some quality sleeve notes from City Limits’ Paul Gilroy, make for a highly desirable collection of lesser-known mid-seventies classics.
