Almost nothing in the Nineties revival makes me happier than the rehabilitation of liquid drum and bass and trip hop. Two artists named Special Guest DJ and Pontiac Streator (why not) are the crimeboys and their playlist feels like a Thursday night at Konkrete Jungle. It was a moment of physical luxury and comfort married to a sense of kinetics and activity, a less punishing idea of the dancefloor and the world around it. A lot of this stuff is as good or better than what went before, frankly. LTJ Bukem and Faithless (RIP the king) would be so lucky to be in a mix with this stuff. Free the crimeboys!
