Wuddaji cover

Wuddaji

Released

This sounds very much like Parrish jamming on his drum machine for an hour, and that is only the highest praise. (You can say the same of many jazz masterpieces.) There are some vocals and snatches of West African guitar but the meat of it is Parrish playing around with patterns and sounds and feeling his way slowly through syncopated ideas. This isn’t dense or ambitious and it also never fails. Wuddaji establishes an energy and an atmosphere and works around the edges, leaving plenty of room for the listener. The power here is calm.
