Stoned Immaculate

Released

By the early 1990s, the On-U Sound label’s effective house band was a well-oiled machine. Centered on the core membership of bassist Earrol “Flabba” Holt and drummer Lincoln “Style” Scott and featuring a shifting array of other musicians, Dub Syndicate was putting out a regular (if not exactly frequent) succession of instrumental dub albums featuring heavyweight rhythms and odd vocal samples — in this case, from Jim Morrison, Prince Far I, and the underrated all-woman reggae band Akabu. Stoned Immaculate is among the best of the group’s 1990s releases.
