This is the last album where Musgraves speaks directly to the country constituency and it’s great. She’s got Willie, which is the sneakiest way to stay in the family, since he’s basically a Communist by Nashville standards. She talks about nosey folks pissing in other people’s yards and how she’s a cowgirl to the bone, and more than a little tired of the boys club. Which is fine, because she left it behind real quick and does numbers they can only dream of now.
