There was a strong cohort in the aughts that committed to a real dancefloor pulse while pushing out the boat on sounds and spatial markers. Kompakt was central to that, after Basic Channel, and Allien came in the flow, as did Apparat. This middle ground chops noise and melody and beats into the same size variables, and Orchestra of Bubbles is one of the best examples of this approach. I can’t lie! This one is bubbly, and there are some incredibly rugged rum sounds tucked into some of these tracks. The vocals are surplus to requirements but they don’t ruin anything.
