This thrilling EP is a snapshot of a time when left field hip-hop and what was at the time called IDM (Intelligent Dance Music) coexisted and were occasionally combined. Beans is an exceptionally creative musician with a wide range of influences. He worked at the famed music discovery mecca, New York’s dearly departed Other Music, which focused on experimental and international sounds. Beans’ voice is front and center here, piercing through icy electronic beatscapes, including remixes and production from El-P and Prefuse 73, two fellow hip-hop rule breakers.
