The wild thing about groups like The Dukes of Stratosphear and Cardinal and whoever else wanted to channel The Beatles and psych without seeming too obvious is that a few souls were brave enough to do it in the moment, and Motherlight is one of those instances. Andy Johns, engineering legend and younger brother of other engineering legend Glyn Johns, plays here at all of 19 years old. This is an English gem, a small one-off that makes me wish that Andy Johns had made a lot more records.
