The second full-length album from Celtic/funk fusion outfit Mouth Music finds the group exploring somewhat darker and more soul-derived sounds than on their debut, but still applying the same basic formula: tensile electronic funk and hip-hop beats underlying Gaelic songs new and old. Here founding singer Talitha Mackenzie has been replaced by Jackie Joyce and Michaela Rowan, both of whom acquit themselves brilliantly on material like the hard-hitting “Hé Mandu” and “So Step Off.”
