Finding a striking space between meditative flow and involving formal lyric-based songs, 2023’s Holy Prana Open Game showcases the work and abilities of Natalie Rose LeBrecht in remarkable fashion. Aside from a frankly inspired choice of cover – Atoms for Peace’s “Amok” – the album consists of originals centered around LeBrecht’s softly keening vocals and keyboards, assisted by such side players as Mick Turner and Jim White of the Dirty Three. Longer songs like “Prana” and “Open” balance against shorter but no less entrancing work as “Holy.”
