Darkness And Light

Released

The title of Darkness And Light is a portal to understanding the work of Stephan Micus, whose assemblies of (other)worldly instruments broaden the perspective he shares through music that defies delineation. The sarangi-like tones of the bowed dilrubi indeed open up a diurnal path through the tones of guitar, kortholt, suling, percussion, wind instruments (including the Siberian cane trumpet), and more. The full experience feels over not long after it begins, transparent like water yet bearing the reflection of its listeners. Through it all, Micus’s presence draws ethereal strings into the foreground so that we might play them with regard.
