Dead Witch Flying’s 2023 album is both a continuation of her earlier Gabrielle and its explicit theme of exploring evolving trans identity via instrumental electronic compositions – one track is a direct sequel to an earlier one, “Your New Life Starts Now, Part 2” – and its own creative result, leaning even more into exploring the sonic sense of the late 70s and very early 80s crossed with the title description in turn. Focused, shimmering melodies and older synth sounds and beats and more infuse songs like “Transgender Wonder,” “Sapphic Joy” and “Sisterhood.”
