Recorded at two holiday shows performed at New York’s Bottom Line club in 1996, Child was Jane Siberry’s unexpected but incredibly engaging entry in the world of Christmas albums. Leading a strong ensemble band, including singer/bassist Gail Ann Dorsey, Siberry blends selections from her back catalog with various holiday standards and her own amusing tales and memories. Her own “Hockey” gets an especially strong performance, while a majestic “In the Bleak Midwinter” is very affecting.
