This 1989 album is mostly noisy and metallic in the vein of Judge or Breakdown; vocalist Anthony Comunale barks like a street-corner goon, while guitarist Carl Porcaro lays down Suicidal Tendencies-esque riffs and squalling solos and bassist Rich McLoughlin and drummer Anthony Drago provide the avalanche-like rhythms. The occasional sonic surprise is tossed in, like a few seconds of postpunk guitar on “Fools Die” and the almost Ted Nugent-like riff that introduces “What I Want,” but for the most part this is fast and furious, floor-punching hardcore/metal with caveman-like gang-shout vocals that points toward the sound Biohazard and Prong would pursue (and, in Prong’s case, quickly evolve beyond) in the years to come.
