Body Meta

Coleman’s harmolodic theory is ultimately about independence: individual instruments playing in relative keys and time signatures but not being controlled by a motif or mode. Body Meta puts the weight of that action on the guitars of Bern Nix and Charlie Ellerbee and the electric bass of Jamaaladeen Tacuma. Drummer Ronald Shannon Jackson is in a relatively easy-going mode here, close to New Orleans second line, and Ornette provides some of his sweetest and simplest tunes. The three string players engrave a series of interlocking shuffles and downstrokes and noodles and wires. This is a bubbler.
