Jenny Hval’s avant-garde album Blood Bitch is the songwriter’s answer to the cultural consciousness’s fascination — and revulsion — with blood. (Think less slasher film and more vampiric bloodlust and menstruation.) Laden with eerie samples, ambient conversations, and voiceovers, even the most forthright electronic pop tunes on this album, “Female Vampire” and “Conceptual Romance,” have a bite to them.
