While Slikback’s involving creations often emerge as short singles, this longer release – an eight song effort, though still focusing on generally short pieces – is one of his most affecting and compelling. Dedicated to his late father, who passed when he was young, Slikback here applies his skills at dark ambient production infused with ominous, looming clouds of sounds while wild mixes of rhythms, corrosive noise and strange, tense calm flows constantly, but all the while creating songs, as on “OPTIMAL” and “COLLISION,” that reach outward, a release of energy.
